MONG KOK AUDI PLOUGHS INTO MAN ON BICYCLE: RIDER HOSPITALISED

A man was knocked off his bike and suffered head injuries after being struck in Mong Kok this evening

Quick action from emergency crews as the man lays bleeding on the ground

A 54-year-old man riding a bike along Cherry Street in Mong Kok was knocked off and badly injured by an Audi driver swinging right into Argyle Street earlier this evening.

Police say a white car, driven by Mr Mak, 25, was travelling eastbound along Cherry Street at 20:43 when Mak turned right onto Argyle, striking Mr Kwok, who was cycling west along Cherry Street.

Kwok suffered head, elbow, shoulder and leg injuries – ambulance crews rushed him to Kwong Wah Hospital, conscious. The mangled wreckage of his bicycle suggests a significant impact from the Audi.

Police say Mak passed a breath test but have no further details on whether he was arrested at the scene or not.

102 people on bikes have been killed in Hong Kong between 2010 and 2019: last year, 169 were killed or seriously injured.
