PARKNSHOP DRIVER ARRESTED AFTER SCOOTER DEATH

The ParknShop driver felt “abnormal noise” under the rear wheels

Police arrested the driver of a ParknShop truck last night after a fatal crash which killed a 53-year-old motorcyclist.

Mr Chan, 33, was driving his truck along Container Port Road South in Tsing Yi at around 11.25pm when the back of his truck reportedly collided with Mr Cheung, who was riding a scooter.

According to news reports, Chan felt “abnormal noise” under the rear wheels and stopped to investigate. He found Cheung trapped under the truck, his head crushed by the one of the wheels. Emergency crews rushed Cheung to Princess Margaret Hospital, unconscious, where he died shortly after midnight.

The victim’s helmet and bloodied face mask were left in a pool of blood under the wheel of the truck wheel as police investigated the crash.

Police arrested Chan for dangerous driving causing death and are detaining him for further enquiries.
