Pedestrian Ms Lam, 67, never awoke from the Yuen Long truck crash that ultimately killed her

A woman who was run down by a truck driver on an unnamed Yuen Long road has died of her injuries eight days after the crash.

Ms Lam, 67, was walking near a village house in Tan Kwai Tsuen at around 2.50pm on Monday 31 May when she was struck by a truck driven by Mr Chiu, 57.

Medics rushed Lam, unconscious and with severe head injuries, to Tuen Mun Hospital, where she remained in a coma until her death on Tuesday night.

Police arrested Chiu for dangerous driving causing death, releasing him on bail but requiring him to report back in July.

The last 18 months have seen more than six crashes per day involving pedestrians, with around 12 pedestrians per week seriously injured or killed in 2019.
