DRAGON’S BACK HIKER KILLED ON HK TRAIL ROAD CROSSING

The woman, Ms Lee, 51, was crossing the road between the Hong Kong Trail Sections 7 and 8, when she was struck down by a private car driven by Ms Yeung, 39

A Dragon’s Back hiker has died in hospital  after being knocked down by a private car driver this afternoon.

The hiker, Ms Lee, 51, was crossing Shek O Road, which separates the Hong Kong Trail’s Section 7 from Section 8,  when she was hit by the private car driven by Ms Yeung, 39.

The crash happened at 1:30pm. The victim was rushed to Pamela Youde Nethersole Hospital unconscious and died shortly after 5pm.

Police have now arrested the driver for dangerous driving causing death.

The crash marks a bloody day on Hong Kong’s roads, happening just hours after a cyclist was killed as a coach driver tried to overtake him in North Lantau.

Aside from these two fatal crashes, there have been 79 other traffic crashes in Hong Kong today so far, 22 of them causing injuries.
