Hayley Pan, 31, was a popular ambassador for women’s cycle brand Liv: she was killed on a Lantau Road this afternoon
A mainland cycling celebrity has been killed in a crash with a tour bus on a Lantau road while riding in Hong Kong.
The woman, Hayley Pan, 31, was riding on Keung Shan Road near Shing Fai Orchard at 3pm when she collided with a tour bus bound for Ngong Ping.
According to police, Pan “reportedly lost her balance and fell at a bend, subsequently being run over by a coach”. Pan sustained serious head injuries and was declared dead at the scene.
Police say the driver, Mr Chung, 59, has been arrested for dangerous driving.
Pan had a large following on mainland social platforms, and represents women’s cycling brand Liv in mainland China.
On her last Douyin post this morning, Hayley posed for a video with local cycling groups at Hong Kong Disneyland, around 30km from the crash site, with the caption “Hong Kong Cycling Tour”.
“Let cycling become my life,” she wrote.
