COACH DRIVER LOSES CONTROL, DIES AFTER SMASH

A 64-year-old man died after losing control of the coach he was driving and ramming into road barriers near Tsing Yi this morning (8 April).

Named by police as Mr Wong, the victim was driving along Tsuen Wan Road towards Kowloon at 7:15am when, approaching Hing Fong Road, he lost control and hit barriers. Unconscious but with no superficial injury, Wong was rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital and was certified dead at 8:42am.

Police could not confirm whether the coach was carrying passengers at the time, or whether Wong lost consciousness before the crash.

Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South is underway. Anyone who witnessed the accident or has any information should contact the investigating officers on 3661 1346 or 3661 1300.

The death is the 25th fatality on Hong Kong’s roads in 2020.
