“At about 2.00am this morning, a MTR contractor worker was working in a generator room at the Hong Kong Station on the Tung Chung Line. He was injured after falling from height,” says an MTR spokesman.
“An ambulance was summoned by the station staff afterwards. The worker was subsequently certified dead after being conveyed to the hospital. The accident is pending investigation,” says the spokesman.
According to the Labour Department (LD), the man fell through a structure inside a plant room to the railway below. LD immediately deployed staff to the scene upon receiving a report of the accident, and is now conducting an investigation to look into its cause.
