MAN LYING IN HENNESSY ROAD KILLED BY BUS

Police are searching for clues after a 29-year-old man was struck by a bus and killed this early morning (2 July).

According to reports, the man, surnamed Cheung, was lying in the eastbound lane of Hennessy Road outside Sogo, Causeway Bay, at 5.15am. A franchised bus, driven by Mr Wong, 52, struck Cheung, trapping him underneath the vehicle.

Fire crews worked to release Cheung, who was rushed unconscious to Ruttonjee Hospital. Doctors declared him dead at 6.32am.

The bus driver was not arrested at the scene, and police say a post-mortem will be needed to determine the cause of death. Anyone who witnessed the accident or has any information to offer should contact the investigating officers on 3660 6838.

There were 572 deaths or serious injuries on the roads in the first five months of this year, according to police.
