CHAI WAN CRASH: PEDESTRIAN KILLED, CITYBUS DRIVER ARRESTED

Police arrested a Citybus driver for dangerous driving causing death yesterday (5 January) after the bus he was driving knocked down and killed a pedestrian in Chai Wan.

At about 4.55pm, Ms Tse, 82, was crossing Tung Hei Road when she was struck by the bus, driven by Mr Ho, 63, turning into the road from Aldrich Bay Road.

Emergency crews rushed Tse to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital, where she was declared dead at 7.30pm.

Police say the driver is still in custody this morning pending enquiries. Anyone who witnessed the accident or has any information to offer is urged to contact the investigating officers on 3660 6815.

89 people were killed on Hong Kong’s roads in the first 11 months of 2020, according to police figures.
