TRUCK DRIVER ARRESTED AFTER PEDESTRIAN CRASH DEATH IN HUNG HOM

The scene were Ms Wong, 88, lost her life to a truck.

Police have arrested a truck driver for dangerous driving causing death after his truck struck and killed a woman crossing a road in Hung Hom this afternoon.

Ms. Wong, 88, was crossing Man Yue Street near Ma Tau Wai Road at 12:49pm when she was struck by the truck, driven westbound along Man Yue Street by Mr Li, 56.

Emergency services rushed Wong, unconscious and with severe head injuries, to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where she died at 5:15pm.

There were 794 elderly pedestrian casualties in 2019, the latest year for which detailed data is available – 53% were crossing the road, 38% were walking and 8% simply standing.
