A coach driver has died of multiple injuries after his coach flipped in heavy rain this morning.
According to police, the 33-year-old driver was solo in the coach travelling along Castle Peak Road (Kwu Tong) towards Sheung Shui. As the driver approach the junction with Fan Kam Road, he reportedly lost control, flipped the coach and struck a tree. The driver was rushed to North District Hospital with multiple injuries and died at 7:16am.
Police say they are still investigating the cause, and could not give further details on the coach.
The Red Rain signal was raised at 5:55am and upgraded to Black Rain at 8:20am as storms lashed the city. Widespread flooding was reported, including a burst pipe at newly opened Kai Tak station and closure of the newly opened Tuen Mun-Chek Lap Kok Tunnel.
