A school bus driver careered into the back of a truck in Kowloon Bay this lunchtime, with six boys, aged four to six, and the driver, 55, hurt in the crash.

Police say the bus and the truck were travelling westbound along Kwun Tong Road. When the truck slowed for traffic, the school bus failed to stop in time and crashed into the back of the bus.

The driver was sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital with minor hand, abdomen and foot injuries, while the boys were sent to United Christian Hospital with minor injuries. Around eight other young students were picked up by another bus and continued their journey.

All the injured boys have since been discharged while the driver is said to be in stable condition.

There were 119 injuries on non-franchised buses in Hong Kong last year, with victims ranging from 3 to 91 years old.
