
The scene of the deadly crash at dawn this morning – a 60-year-old worker was killed by a truck driver who fled the scene
Police are hunting a truck driver who struck and killed a road worker in Tsing Yi in the early hours of this morning.
According to police reports, a truck was being driven along Tsing Sha Highway towards Kowloon at 3:18am. Upon reaching a roadwork site close to Nam Wan Tunnel, it struck a 60-year-old male worker.
The worker, who police did not name, sustained serious multiple injuries in the crash and died in hospital shortly afterwards.
According to police, the truck driver fled the scene and neither he nor his vehicle has yet been located.
The death marks the sixth road death in two weeks: five were people struck by vehicles while one bus driver was killed when his bus ploughed into an illegally parked coach.
