A 47-year-old man was injured yesterday lunchtime when a crash between a BMW sports car and a truck led to the car smashing onto a busy stretch of Nathan Road pavement.
According to police, the BMW driver, Mr Lau, 34, had been driving down Nathan Road towards the harbour, followed by a truck driven by 20-year-old Mr Wong.
As Lau slowed around Cameron Road, the young truck driver behind did not slow in time to avoid colliding and shunted Lau’s car, causing Lau to lose control. The car then veered off the carriageway and mounted the busy pavement, striking victim Mr Fung.
Skid marks can be seen on the pavement from the car.
The pedestrian victim was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital with foot and finger injuries, while the truck driver was also injured.
Police were tight-lipped on the case, saying they had “no information” as to whether anyone had been arrested or the condition of the victims.
