ONE HURT AS BMW SMASHES ONTO BUSY TST PAVEMENT IN TRUCK CRASH

The car ploughed into the busy pavement after being shunted by a 20-year-old truck driver

A 47-year-old man was injured yesterday lunchtime when a crash between a BMW sports car and a truck led to the car smashing onto a busy stretch of Nathan Road pavement.

According to police, the BMW driver, Mr Lau, 34, had been driving down Nathan Road towards the harbour, followed by a truck driven by 20-year-old Mr Wong.

As Lau slowed around Cameron Road, the young truck driver behind did not slow in time to avoid colliding and shunted Lau’s car, causing Lau to lose control. The car then veered off the carriageway and mounted the busy pavement, striking victim Mr Fung.

Skid marks can be seen on the pavement from the car.

The pedestrian victim was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital with foot and finger injuries, while the truck driver was also injured.

Police were tight-lipped on the case, saying they had “no information” as to whether anyone had been arrested or the condition of the victims.

  1. worth to note on this section of Nathan road it has 4 lanes and a separated middle section as devider (off for pedestrians) all in all space allocated for cars:23.9meters (79%), space allocated for pedestrians 6.4meter (21%) but thats not enough so just drive on the paveways….
