A young motorcycle rider was killed in Kowloon City this evening after a fatal crash involving a taxi.
The 23-year-old rider, described by police as “non-ethnic Chinese”, was riding along Argyle Street westbound at 6:54pm when, approaching Peace Avenue, he reportedly collided with a hybrid taxi driven by 63-year-old Mr Chan.
The rider was knocked from the bike and suffered serious head injuries. Medics rushed him to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where he died at 7:30pm.
His passenger sustained only slight injuries and was sent to Kwong Wah Hospital conscious.
Police say the taxi driver was not arrested.
The crash is already the second recorded death on Argyle Street this year: on 4 January a woman was knocked down and killed by a truck driver on an pedestrian crossing around 600m west of this evening’s tragedy.
