E-BIKE CRACKDOWN CONTINUES WITH SIX ARRESTS

Police arrested six men on Hong Kong Island for suspected e-bike offences

Police have arrested another six e-bike riders, stressing the machines are illegal on roads, pavements and cycle tracks and urging the public not to test the law.

During a Hong Kong Island e-bike operation announced today (25 September), officers found six men aged between 26 and 64 riding e-bikes. Those arrested face charges of multiple offences including “driving an unregistered vehicle”, “driving without a valid driving licence”, “driving without insurance”, “driving without an approved protective helmet” and “driving on the pavement”.

Six electric bicycles were seized.

The police stated that they attach great importance to road safety and will continue to take relevant law enforcement actions.
