Police say stringent enforcement action will be taken during the operation, with HK$320 parking tickets issued to drivers who park their vehicles illegally. The operation will particularly target those involved with double parking, parking at restricted zones (especially near bus stops and crossing facilities) and obstructing vehicle entrances.
For the first half of 2019 traffic enforcement was down 5% on the previous six months, with parking tickets down 7%. Meanwhile fatal and serious injuries from road accidents were up 5%. New Territories South was the most dangerous police district on the roads for 2019 (January to end November, the latest data available), with 4,403 casualties.
