Reports say the driver of the red minibus may have skipped a red light at the junction of Tonkin Street and Un Chau Street in Cheung Sha Wan
A red minibus driver reportedly careened through a red light in Cheung Sha Wan early this morning, smashing into a 5.5 tonne truck and injuring 11, including nine minibus passengers.
A witness on board the minibus says the driver may have “looked at the wrong traffic lights”, causing the 6:30am crash in which the truck overturned.
Minibus driver Mr Lam, 60, and nine passengers aged between 50 and 68 were all taken to Caritas Hospital for treatment. The driver of the truck, Mr Wong, 38, was trapped in his overturned cab and rescued by fire crews. He was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Police say they have not yet made any arrests.
In 2019, 547 minibus passengers and 134 minibus drivers were killed or injured in road crashes.
