A motorcyclist has died after colliding with a stationary car on the notorious Bride’s Pool Road yesterday morning.

According to dashcam footage from a private car and a motorcycle group, a large motorbike was stopped on the road at around 10am, its rider chatting with some pedestrians. A private car travelling along the road approached the stopped motorcycle and drew to a rapid stop. Moments later, Mr Tam, 29, smashed his motorcycle into the back of the car, flipped over and struck another motorcyclist coming in the opposite direction.

Tam was knocked unconscious in the collision and rushed to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital with no obvious injury – he died less than an hour later. Another rider struck by Tam’s careering motorcycle was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police arrested the driver of the stopped car, who was, a police spokesperson says, “a wanted person”. The car driver had a number of unpaid fixed penalty tickets, says a police source.

Bride’s Pool Road is a popular road amongst driving clubs and racing clubs and has claimed the lives of dozens of motorcyclists, cyclists and drivers over the years. Earlier this year, a 40-year-old motorcyclist had a lucky escape after smashing head-first into an oncoming car, walking away from the crash and refusing medical treatment.
