The 69-year-old man trapped under the bus. Inset: his prosthetic leg was left behind in a pool of blood
A bus crushed a man’s leg and prosthetic device this morning in a horrific crash at Tung Chung Station Bus Terminus.
Passengers on board the New Lantao Bus (NLB) service from Ying Tung Estate called emergency services after the bus, driven by 41-year-old Mr Tse, hit 69-year-old Mr Chan and pulled him under the front wheels.
Chan, who had been walking with a stick, was trapped under the wheel but freed by emergency services. He was taken conscious to North Lantau Hospital.
Bystanders saw part of Chan’s bloodied prosthetic leg still trapped under the bus wheel.
Police say they have made no arrests and NLB refused to comment.
Netizens on Facebook group Lantau Connects blamed the poor bus station design for the crash. “Pedestrians need to cross bus lanes to reach the bus stop,” wrote one.
