THREE-DAY PARKING SWOOP IN SHA TIN

Police will show no mercy on illegal parking in Sha Tin for the next three days, with an operation to smooth traffic flow and raise safety awareness of road users.

Police say they will adopt a zero-tolerance approach during the operation, targeting double parking, abuse of restricted zones, and obstruction of emergency vehicular access. Multiple tickets will be given to repeat offenders, and illegally parked vehicles may be towed away, police say.

The operation is run by Sha Tin Police District and will cover Sha Tin, Tin Sum and Ma On Shan, running from 17 to 19 March.

Police issued 454,330 parking tickets in the second half of 2019, the lowest half-yearly haul since 2012.
