Route Twisk clings to the contours of Hong Kong’s highest peak and is popular with bikers
A 27-year old biker has died in a smash involving a car and another motorbike on Route Twisk near Kap Lung this afternoon (16 March).
According to police, two motorcycles, ridden by the deceased, Mr Lee, and a 29-year old Mr Wong, were travelling north along Route Twisk towards Pat Heung at around 5pm. Lee reportedly lost control approaching Kap Lung and the bikes collided with a car travelling in the opposite direction, driven by Mr Fung, 34.
Suffering multiple injuries, Lee was rushed to Pok Oi Hospital unconscious and was certified dead at 6.02pm. Wong was injured in the lower torso and was sent to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital, still conscious. No-one was arrested or charged at the scene, according to police.
An investigation by the Accident Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North is underway. Anyone who witnessed the accident or has any information to offer is urged to contact the investigating officers on 3661 3800.
Lee’s death is the fourth motorcycle fatality in Hong Kong this year, with motorbikes now accounting for a fifth of all road traffic deaths in 2020 to date.
