The father of a Hong Kong BMX star killed in a Yuen Long taxi collision last Monday has appealed for drivers to come forward with dashcam footage to help find the cause of the crash.

Mr Chow, 27, was riding a Yamaha scooter with a female passenger along Long Yat Road at 00.20 on Monday (30 November) and reportedly collided with a taxi driven by 65-year-old Mr Choi.

A plastic bag with a cake tin and an unopened greetings card was amongst the debris left behind after medics battled to save the two riders: ambulance crews rushed both Chow and his passenger to Tuen Mun Hospital unconscious but Chow never regained consciousness and died at 3.25pm on Wednesday (2 December).

The condition of his passenger is not known.

Chow’s father told HK01 his son had been a kind and helpful child, and a keen bike rider – he had been on the Hong Kong BMX team and later raced dirt bikes. Chow Senior said his son’s organs, including heart, corneas, lungs and kidneys, had been donated in accordance with his wishes, and said drivers could come forward to help the police investigation.

Police say they are still investigating the cause and appeal for witnesses or those with information to come forward.  Anyone who witnessed the crash or has any information to offer is urged to contact the investigating officers on 3661 3800 or 3661 3859.
